Vintage Roses

Anyone who knows me will know that my bedroom looks like a Cath Kidston based anaphylactic shock. Vintage floral designs are everywhere, and I've been dying to try it our for ages! I finally got a dotting tool so it made doing the contours and highlights actually possible.

Is it possible to get lipo for your hands?

Base: 2 coats of OPI Glints of Glinda
Roses: Barry M Baby pink, Bright red, Matt white & Racing Green

This particular pinky design was inspired by the Motel Rose Stripe Print Leggings, I decided on a nude base for a more subtle look.

Remember if you enter Brooke23 at the checkout you get 20% off making these only £20!

Mint Paisley Print

Yesterday, after reading lots of good reviews, I got myself a Barry M white nail pen. Usually I use the models ownXwah! ones, while they are great, especially for striping (read it again..) This Barry M is much easier to use in my opinion. It gives out a consistent colour without any splodges.

I kept coming across this design on various blogs and thought it was really purdy and perfect for spring (the one we are not having). For the base I used 2 coats of Barry M 'mint green' and then finished with a top coat of Bourgois SO Matt.

I mostly followed this guide from Company but added dots to fill in the gaps as I found it looked a bit bare.

The Great Gatsby

Unless they decided to delay it again I am finally going to see The Great Gatsby on friday! I'm so so excited. I studied it last year and I absolutely love the book, Baz Luhrmann, Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan, the Art Deco movement in general and the soundtrack. So I reckon I might like this film.

So The Great Gatsby is all to do with excess and opulence and Baz has fittingly chosen black & gold as a motif in the film, I used these to do a mix & match nail set.

How amazing is that? Ahhhhhhhh. Must refrain from doing this in the cinema...

Minty Dotty Leopard

Leopard print is just about the easiest nail art design to do, so obviously its a favourite of mine. This time though I added white into the middle of the spots for a bit more of a lighter summery-er look.

Technology please make these a thing. I vaaaant dem.

Boosh Boosh

These were for a friend's Mighty Boosh themed party. I pretty much copied these so thank you clever stranger for designing them! It doesn't really show up in the picture but i used Black Multi-glitter from Barry M. It's pretty swag. (I totally can't carry off saying that..sorry)

Vince Noir: Asking the big questions in life.

Bow-wow-wow

I love love love this design! I came across it on this great blog. Its super easy and I think its just so cute without being like hello-kitty vomit style. Soz if anyone likes that. Just know you need help.

And here's some bow-wow-wow for good measure

'I like candy when it's wrapped in a sweater' ...Each to their own, Annabella Lwin.
Leopard with an accent.

^ Probably my lamest and most tenuous pun ever. (Its a leopard print accent nail... yep.)

This was done in a rush before an 18th. Luckily, I already had nail varnish on from the day before. So I just went over them in a mattifying top coat then added leopard print on one nail. Et viola.
Sun is shining...ish.

A rare sunny spring day in London inspired this daisy design

Company magazine has a really simple tutorial that you can vary slightly for any floral pattern. Nifty.

                        Alexa Chung

These were both inspired by my long-term girlfriend crush, Alexa Chung's nail art.

The design is not just simple, it really hard to f*ck up! Its also really summery and subtle enough not to clash with anything. Which is nice. I find it the most annoying thing when you've just spent the past two hours doing a design you really like but then it clashes offensively with what you want to wear.

90's Pastel Ombre with Leopard Print.

My main inspirations here were Henry Holland and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
I used a sponge to achieve the gradient look (Paint your nail a lighter colour then sponge the darker colour on top with varying pressure to half way up the nail)
then used my black nail pen to draw on the leopard print (Broken up splodgy circles)

I reeeeeaaally like this. Considering i spend my life in black clothes it adds a bit of colour.
Personally, I think its just the right side of tacky.

Warning: I'm not very good

Last weekend i made the biggest mistake of my life: I bought nail art pens.
Ever since i have been obsessed with drawing shit on my nails and seeing if it looks good.

Thought it might be a good idea to start a blog to document the fruits of my hours of procrastination.
If you stumble upon this...
I have no artistic flair and i have really shakey hands but that means if i can do it, you definitely can too.

so yay. NAIL ART.
